Wow.
It doesn't get much better when it comes to live shows than the one I saw last night. Being a College Rep for Sony Music I get the pleasure of seeing some great shows for free and this one was probably one of the best. The artist in question is John Mayer. Now this was a very plain show in the way that there was no eye candy: no fancy lights, no smoke machines, no outfits and none of the dance members dancing around stage. But when it came to the most important parts of a show, this one had it all. First off it was a sold out show, which is impressive in itself seeing how John is just starting to get decent radio support. Secondly, almost everyone there knew every word to every song he played, as opposed to most shows where people only know the 'hits'. More impressive than the fact that people knew the words is that they were singing louder than the whole band at points. And even MORE impressive was John's overall performance. His voice and the band were dead on during every song, which is why his live shows have become so popular. What stood out the most though, were John's guitar skills. I love his record, 'Room For Squares', but he does anything but show off his skills on the CD. That all changed during the show. For the majority of the show John played lead guitar and would go into two or sometimes three seperate solos on some songs. Very rarely will you find a lead singer that plays lead guitar throughout a live show if there is a second guitarist on stage. John not only did that, but played it better than any guitarist I've seen recently. So if he comes to your town, go see him. If you already missed him or he isn't coming near you, go to his website and buy his record.

My John Mayer commercial is over now. Here's a general question: isn't nyquil supposed to: a)put you to sleep and b) stop your coughing? See I always thought that was it's purpose, but i've been taking it the last couple of nights and it hasn't done either... Okay, I have class in six hours, which means it's time for bed...

Stolen ideas are always the best ones. After reading a friend's blogspot, I figured mine could be at least half as interesting as his. So now you know where to find the most aimless ramblings ever. I don't really think I'm all that exciting, but hopefully we can all get a good laugh or something else out of my posts and your comments.
